'Learn-to-Row' (LTR) is a great introduction to the sport! Lessons are held on 5 weekday evenings spaced over two weeks - usually Monday-Wednesday-Friday-Monday-Wednesday at 18:00h. (Note: Sept 6 class will be rescheduled to Sept 7 due to civic holiday.)

NEW! Two new sessions have been added: beginning August 30 and beginning September 13. These classes will run if there is sufficient interest.

You will join a class of approx. 10 students. Instruction begins with parts of the stroke, parts of the boat, and water safety. Lessons continue on rowing machines and dockside rowing. The majority of time is on the water with the coach along side the crew in a motor boat. You learn to balance the boat and how to move it through the water as a crew.

After completing 'Learn-to-Row', many choose to join the Ottawa Rowing Club as a recreational member. Recreational rowers can join a crew on scheduled coached evenings or mornings.

Equipment or supplies: dress for the weather (crews go out rain or shine except for conditions of lightning or high winds): snug, comfortable sports clothing: socks: running shoes: hat and water bottle are recommended. Rings are uncomfortable so we recommend leaving jewelry at home. Previous experience required: none
