Coastweeks Regatta 2010
Event Dates: 9/19/2010

Regatta Overview: Mystic Seaport is pleased to announce that the 19th Annual Coastweeks Regatta will be held on the Mystic River at Mystic Seaport on 19 September 2010. This regatta has become increasingly popular over the years as it offers a competitive rowing venue for rowers of all ages and abilities. For many rowers it is the kickoff regatta of the Fall rowing season. The Coastweeks Regatta is part of the Mystic Weekend of Rowing, which also includes the Battle Between the Bridges elite sculling competition (see web site at http://www.mwor.org).

Coastweeks 2010 Schedule: : The order of events and schedule can be accessed via the "schedule" tab above. Please note that the starting time for each of the five event flights is approximate and will be ultimately determined by the number of entries in each flight, as well as logistics and weather conditions. Although we have structured the schedule to allow rowers to participate in more than one event and facilitate the use of boats by multiple crews (hot-seating), we urge rowers to be conservative in the number of races they enter. Also, anticipate a 1.0-hour break between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM for lunch and medal presentation for the morning events.

Medals: : Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each event. Medals will be awarded at the end of each flight at the awards tent once the results have been posted and announced. In addition, a medal will be awarded to Novices participating in the Recreational Singles event. A novice is any participant who took up rowing in 2010 (January 1, 2010 or after).

Waiver Instructions: Please remember, you DO NOT have to bring your waivers to the event if you sign them online! Individual entries sign their waivers online WHEN they register but team entries must sign their waivers by going to www.rowingwaivers.com. Should you wish to print out and bring a paper waiver to the event please feel free to click on the link above listed as "waiver."

Age Categories and Handicapping: The following age categories apply to Coastweeks events - Youth (Age under 19), Open (Any age), Masters (Ages 27-49), and Veterans (Ages 50 and over). The rowers age is his/her age on the day of the race. For the 1X events, age categories include Youth, Open, Masters and Veterans. For Recreational 1X, 2X, 4X and 4+ entries, the Masters and Veterans categories will be combined in a single category, Master/Vet (age 27 and over). For 2X,. 4X and 4+ events, all individuals in the boat must fall within the age category for the entire boat to be entered in that category. Otherwise, the boat will be categorized according to the younger rowers in that boat. For example, if two open rowers (<27) and two master/vet rowers (>27) make up a quad, the boat should run in the open category. Race times for Masters and Veterans events will he handicapped according to the U.S. Rowing handicap system, adjusted for 2000 meters. For Masters/Vets 2X, 4X and 4+ events, adjusted times will be computed using the average age of the boat.
